Paradise Valley school to attempt to set Homecoming attendance record

Shadow Mountain High School student government, part of Arizona’s Paradise Valley Unified School District, has announced its plans to set a record attendance during the school’s 41st Annual Homecoming Tailgate and Parade event on Oct. 23. Themed “Circus…Under the Big Red Top,” the homecoming parade will begin at 4 p.m. at 24th and 30th streets and Shea Blvd. It will include the Shadow Mountain Marching Band, floats, banners and other festivities to help cheer on the Matadors football team as they take on Cactus Shadows High School at 7 p.m. that evening, according to a press release. SMHS student government comprises 31 student body-elected freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors who are responsible for the event planning and execution of all school-sponsored events including homecoming, four pep rallies, various food drives and charity events, an annual student talent show and the school’s highly-anticipated Junior/Senior Prom held in May.
