James Beard Foundation culinary tour stops in Paradise Valley, Scottsdale

Some of the Valley of the Sun’s hottest chef’s will be featured in the James Beard Foundation’s annual Taste American culinary tour, Sept. 21-23, including Paradise Valley’s own, Charles Wiley of Hearth ‘61 inside Mountain Shadows. The cross-country program will heat up this fall in 10 culinary destinations including Austin, Boston, Chicago, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle, according to a press release. Phoenix’s weekend-long Taste American program will feature a welcome reception; a one-of-a-kind benefit dinner prepared by Taste America All-Star Traci Des Jardins and local star, Nobuo Fudua; and free in-store consumer events at Sur La Table – Scottsdale Fashion Square.

Andaz Resort celebrates local food, fun & spirits

Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa, 6114 N. Scottsdale Road, partnered with Food & Wine magazine and American Express to host a grand soiree on Thursday, May 4. Executive Chef Adam Sheff and the mixologists of Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen prepared Scottsdale-inspired cocktails and a sampling of contemporary Sonoran dishes from the resort’s signature restaurant. As an added bonus, local artisans, including those from the nearby Cattle Track artist community, were on hand to showcase their work, which has had a huge hand in shaping the resort’s mid-century modern design and robust Artist in Residence program.

Neighbors start donation to help elderly residents

Neighbors helping neighbors was the theme of a holiday food card charity drive held by Paradise Valley Villa Del Oro residents for the elderly at Vista Del Camino Center. A total of $520 was raised in food card donations which decorated the VDO Clubhouse mantel garland with cards from Albertson’s, Bashas, CVS, Fry’s, and Safeway.

AZADI Fine Rugs donates to Alice Cooper’s teen center

AZADI Fine Rugs founder David Neishabori worked tirelessly to ensure that disadvantaged children had a joyful holiday season. Teaming up with the design community, AZADI collects, assembles and distributes food, clothing, toys, games and treats for the children to enjoy. Past recipients of the AZADI Angel Program have been Ryan House, Children’s First Academy and Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center, according to a press release.

Phoenix Suns, Dominick’s Steakhouse dinner proceeds to go to Make-A-Wish

Meet and mingle with Phoenix Suns starting forward P.J. Tucker who will be on-hand to greet guests while dining at Dominick’s Steakhouse in the Scottsdale Quarter on Monday Oct. 24, all to benefit Make-A-Wish Arizona. For one night only Dominick’s Steakhouse will donate 100 percent of all proceeds from food and beverage to the Phoenix-based charity dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, according to a press release.

Mountain Shadows hires Chippindall as GM

The new Mountain Shadows resort, opening in early 2017, has announced Andrew Chippindall as vice president and general manager. The original resort opened in 1959, setting the benchmark for desert luxury and distinctive design. The newest incarnation is being rebuilt from the ground up by Woodbine Development and Westroc Hospitality, according to a press release.
