Brophy Vs. Desert Ridge: a top team match-up

When Brophy College Preparatory’s football team takes the field this Friday, it will be faced with a challenge it has not faced this season: playing after a loss. The Broncos (4-1) suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, Sept. 18 against Pinnacle High School (3-1) by a score of 32-31. With their hopes of an undefeated season gone, the Broncos will turn to a top-ranked team in Desert Ridge High School (3-1) for their next game.

Arcadia Titans to battle Sunrise Mountain Sept. 4

The Arcadia High School football team will play its first home game of the season this Friday as the Titans (1-0) host Sunrise Mountain High School (1-0). Both teams won in convincing fashion in their first matchups of the season, as Arcadia took down Bradshaw Mountain 35-14 and Sunrise Mountain defeated Cibola (Yuma) 65-20. The task at hand for the Titan defense is to slow down the dual-threat quarterback of the Mustangs, junior Chase Cord. In the opening game of the season, Cord completed 23 of 34 passes for 393 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions, according to MaxPreps.com. On top of his passing success, Cord ran the ball 10 times for 77 yards and one touchdown during the rout of Cibola.
