At 9:59 a.m. on July 14, the Paradise Valley Police Department responded to a welfare check, in which one man was found dead, according to the department’s Facebook page.

Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 7100 block of East Caballo Circle for a welfare check after a caller stated the homeowner did not show up for work and wanted to check on the status of the homeowner. The caller met police at the residence.

Officers opened the front door to check the premise, at which point they heard a single gunshot coming from one of the rooms, police stated.

Officers quickly exited the residence and called for additional units to respond and set up a perimeter.

Officers re-entered the home with ballistic shields and cleared the home, locating the homeowner in the master bedroom with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the head.

The Scottsdale Fire Department and paramedics were staged around the corner and asked to respond, police stated.

The 56-year-old homeowner was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased is being withheld until the family has been notified.

The police officers did not discharge any firearms, the department stated.
