One man has been arrested for burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia after Paradise Valley police respond to a call for a possible burglary in progress, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on April 14, according to officials.
The 9-1-1 caller, a realtor, indicated there was an individual in the house he was closing-up after a private showing, in the 7800 block of N. Mockingbird Lane. When confronted by the caller, the suspect left the residence, police stated.
With the description provided by the caller, PVPD quickly located the suspect, identified as Matthew J. Goins of Phoenix, 39, within a block of the residence and detained him.
It was at that time that the caller was able to positively identify the suspect as the individual he found within the house. Goins was then taken into custody.
Goins was charged with one count of Criminal Trespass and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, which he had in his possession at the time of his arrest. After processing, Goins was released on his own recognizance after being given a court date later this month, according to officials.
Police urge residents to keep doors locked at all times and report suspicious activity immediately. For a home security survey or tips on how to make your home safer, contact Community Resource Officer Kevin Albert at KAlbert@ParadiseValleyAZ.gov.
