We’re approaching a critical point in the progress of the Special Use Permit application for the Ritz-Carlton Paradise Valley. I’m writing to encourage the Town’s Planning Commission to continue moving the project forward in an expeditious manner while working proactively with Five Star Development to create an exceptional amenity for our community.

The Town Council’s Statement of Direction provided the Commission with parameters — ones that are not absolute, but provide some guidance — to work with the developer and ensure the project is a great addition to Paradise Valley. The plans submitted by Five Star and currently being considered by the Planning Commission truly fit that bill, and would create a project that will live up to its potential as the crown jewel of our town.

The Ritz-Carlton Paradise Valley will be one of the finest resorts ever built in the southwest, and will be the anchor of a project of exceptional quality that will create many benefits for our community while staying true to our town’s character.

I’ve attended each of the Planning Commission meetings so far, and I know they’ve done a careful job of studying the project. There’s a great deal of consensus for moving forward. Now, it’s time to get the job done. I strongly encourage the Commission to finalize their deliberations in the next few weeks and send a recommendation to approve the Ritz-Carlton Paradise Valley development to the Town Council for their consideration.

We are closer than ever to making this extraordinary opportunity a reality in our community. Let’s take the next step of putting this plan in front of the Town Council, and ensuring construction on the new Ritz-Carlton begins as soon as possible.
