Mark Stanton: I will maintain public safety, fiscal accountability and quality of life

As we launch into 2016, I look forward to continue serving with my fellow Paradise Valley Town Council members and town staff. My priorities are to maintain public safety, fiscal accountability and the quality of life for our community and its residents.

Public safety and the support of our police department remain a top objective. Embracing the latest technology while maintaining the highest caliber of public safety personnel are at the forefront of my concerns. In addition, the continued efforts to enhance our town’s infrastructure and address issues such as storm drainage remain a primary focus.

Fiscal accountability including managing a balanced budget is critical for the well-being of our community. Although financial challenges such as the public safety personnel pension reform and maintaining the transaction privilege tax (construction sales tax) are still being addressed, town council and staff are managing those challenges in a proactive manner.

My overall goal is to uphold our quality of life in Paradise Valley. This includes managing community growth. We are seeing many changes occur with Mountain Shadows taking shape and the Andaz Resort (formerly The Cottonwoods) scheduled to debut later this year. These are examples of detailed planning, collaboration and vision. I am committed to continue working with these properties as they evolve, as well as with Five Star and the Ritz Carlton.

All of these developments are unique to themselves and will bring the town vital revenue. They will join the array of remarkable resorts in Paradise Valley that provide residents and visitors with world-class hospitality and amenities. Paradise Valley will meet the challenges and embrace new opportunities in the year ahead.

I am very proud to live in such an amazing community and serve on the town council.
