Xavier College Prep boasts track and field wins with MIT bound senior

Xavier College Preparatory senior Tessa Weiss recently captured the Division I track and field state championship titles in the 1,600- and the 3,200-meter running events, and even won the 1,600-meter event at the Meet of Champions.

She graduated from Xavier on May 14 with a 4.0 grade point average. In the fall, she will study chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In other track and field news, Xavier’s 4 x 100 relay team consisting of senior, Cydeni Carter; juniors, Annie Grant and Maddie Minton; and sophomore Bisola Ojeniyi won third-place honors at the state championship meet.

Ms. Carter got second-place in the 100-meter hurdles, and Ms. Grant placed third in the 300-meter hurdles.
