Xavier athletes sweep awards at inaugural sports ceremony

The “Best Female Athlete of the Year” award goes to Xavier College Preparatory senior Khalia Lanier.

She received the honors at the first Arizona Sports Awards ceremony recently hosted by azcentral.com at the Orpheum Theatre.

Ms. Lanier was named the 2015 “Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year” in December and the 2015 PrepVolleyball.com High School Volleyball All-American First Team for the third consecutive year. She graduated from Xavier in May with a grade point average of 4.25 and plans to attend the University of Southern California in the fall.

Others from Xavier recognized at the inaugural event were:

Xavier senior Alisa Snyder was honored at the event as “Girls Golfer of the Year.” Division 1 individual golf state champion of the year, and member of Xavier’s state championship golf team, she graduated with a 4.24 grade point average. Ms. Snyder plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall.

Xavier’s varsity tennis coach, Laurie Martin, was honored as “Girls Tennis Coach of the Year.”
