Town hosts 19th annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration

The Town of Paradise Valley will conducts its 19th consecutive Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at the Paradise Valley Town Hall, 6401 E. Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley.

The theme for this year’s event is “Lead by Example.”

Shirley L. Mays, the dean of the Arizona Law Summit, is the keynote speaker. Ms. Mays is the recipient of the 2016 Town of Paradise Valley Diversity Award.

Winners of the Youth Essay Contest also will be honored at the event. Students attending middle school in Paradise Valley were invited to submit an essay regarding how one might lead through example. One finalist was picked from each grade level of 5, 6, 7, and 8.

The winners will be given an award during the celebration.

The event is open to the public. Admission is free and a buffet luncheon will be served.
