Paradise Valley police report Cactus Wren burglary

The Paradise Valley Police Department is reporting a residential burglary in the 5600 block of Cactus Wren sometime over the last 48 hours.

The burglary was reported at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, according to a press release.

Upon arrival, officers determined an unknown person entered the residence by kicking in the rear patio door. Once inside the suspects removed the kitchen appliances. Police believe the burglary happened between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 and 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8.

The residence was vacant at the time of the burglary and there was no alarm activated, the press release states.

The Paradise Valley Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is following up on this crime. Locking your doors can prevent a burglar from gaining entry to your home, police officials say.

Using alarms usually reduces the amount of time burglars are inside your house and the amount of property they have time to steal. It also causes them to rush which often leads to mistakes and additional evidence being left, enhancing the chance of catching the suspect and recovering any stolen property, police officials contend.
