Celebrate Bastille Day during Experience France, MIM’s fifth annual celebration of French music and culture on Saturday, July 9, and Sunday, July 10 at the Musical Instrument Museum, 4725 E. Mayo Blvd. in Phoenix.

Guests can enjoy French music through a variety of live performances. French singer-songwriter Cécile Hortensia and her band will bring the music of the “City of Light” to MIM, according to a press release.

Chamber musicians Drew Quiring and Jenna Daum will perform works for piano and flute by French composers Mélanie Bonis and Gabriel Pierné. ZAZU, an Arizona band, will feature a performance reminiscent of a 1930s Parisian nightclub, the release stated.

Other activities include face-painting, a make-your-own saxhorn craft, and a discussion of global impacts on French music by Mr. Quiring, an ASU Doctor of Musical Arts student.

In addition to MIM’s special photo booth with costumes and props, there will be family-friendly presentations by MIM’s Story Time Band and a menu of select French-inspired cuisine and French wines for purchase at Café Allegro.

The Museum Store will feature a selection of French CDs, books, and gifts. Experience France is included with paid museum admission and free for members. Call 480-478-6000 for the full schedule of events or go to MIM.org.
