Three local nonprofit groups are set to host a 5K run to benefit cancer patients in need.

The Joy Bus, a local nonprofit dedicated to bringing hot meals to cancer patients, is teaming up with Don’t be a Chump! Check for a Lump! and Singleton Moms to host the AZ Cancer Village Fun Run benefiting cancer patients.

Participants can either run, walk, or skip to promote and support the local charities by raising much needed funds for cancer patients, according to a press release.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, the event will be at 300 E. Steele Indian School Road in Phoenix.

The AZ Cancer Village Fun Run will have live music, local vendors, and cancer resources, according to the release. The registration fee to run or walk in the race is $25 for adults or $10 for kids and survivors.

Participants can register at www.azcancervillage.org.

Funds will go toward raising awareness of breast health and prevention, hosting free mammograms, providing free wigs to breast cancer patients, fresh meals for homebound patients, and helping single parents battling cancer with day-to-day needs, stated the release.
