In an effort to educate and get people to rethink waste, Stardust Building Supplies is hosting Salvage This!, the third annual fundraiser and celebration of reuse.

The event, which is set to be held at the Showcase Room at The Yard, 149 S. Farmer Ave. in Tempe, is meant to inspire individuals to build a sustainable community.

SalvageThisDuring the event, teams of interior designers will be competing for the Design for Hope Award by presenting their reclaimed kitchen design for one of Devereux Arizona’s respite homes for foster children, according to a press release.

The winning design will be determined that evening by a team of judges from the design community and event attendees who vote for their favorite design. Proceeds from event will support the Stardust Building Supplies programs and offset any additional costs to install the kitchen, stated the release.

Featured celebrity guest, Frank Fritz from History Channel’s “American Pickers”, will share fun stories about his picking experiences as well as be a part of judging the re-purposed item portion of the design competition, according to the release.

Each design team is tasked with creating a re-purposed item that is incorporated into their overall kitchen design during the main event. The winning team will be awarded the “Frankie Award.”

Mr. Fritz will also host a special VIP Happy Hour for 50 guests, which will include a meet-and-greet, tips on successful picking and book signing, stated the release.

The Salvage This! VIP event is to be 5-6 p.m.; the main event is to be 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6. General admission is $40 in advanced or $50 at the door. VIP tickets are $75 in advanced or $100 at the door.
