Annual UMOM Walk for Homeless Families to be at Phoenix Zoo

The seventh annual UMOM Walk for Homeless Families is to be held Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Phoenix Zoo.

All proceeds from the event benefit UMOM New Day Centers, the largest homeless shelter for families in Arizona, according to a press release.

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the walk/run will begin at 7:30 a.m. The Phoenix Zoo is at 455 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix.

Early-bird registration is only $25 for adults and $20 for students until Sept. 15. Children 2 and under are free and do not need to register, according to the event website.

The event was founded by the UMOM Women’s Auxiliary and will feature a 1K and 5K walk/run throughout the trails of the Phoenix Zoo. Walk participants can also enjoy free all-day admission to the Phoenix Zoo after the event, stated the release.

Last year over 2,000 walkers participated in the event and UMOM expects more than 2,500 this year. The walk features a kids-zone with face painting, team mascots, bounce houses, character photos and treats, according to the release.
