Annual Mother’s Grace Brunch to help support mothers, children

This May, join moms from around the Valley for an elegant brunch to benefit and celebrate Mother’s Day with a tribute to mothers and their inspirational work.

The champagne brunch, shopping, and inspirational guest speaker will take place at a private residence at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, to benefit the Mother’s Grace Foundation.

The Mother’s Grace Foundation is dedicated to supporting mothers and children who have faced adversity and hardship, according to a press release. For almost a decade Mother’s Grace has been providing financial and emotional assistance, as well as leadership to non-profit organizations run by mothers.

By providing financial support and guidance, Mother’s Grace empowers these women to reach their goals of making a difference in their communities by helping others inflicted with similar circumstances.

The Mother’s Grace Board is made-up professional women who can help other mother’s starting their own 501(c)(3)’s. This year’s two Mother’s Grace board members, Jodi Mastro and Dr. Manisha Javia, will co-chair the brunch alongside founder and President Michelle Fanger.

Ms. Mastro, whose husband Jeff Mastro is co-owner of both Dominick’s Steakhouse and Steak 44, was touched by the stories she heard at Mother’s Grace.

“I was brought to tears hearing about the struggles these mothers have overcome and the grace they did it with,” stated Ms. Mastro in the release.

Dr. Javia, an accomplished Valley dentist, supplements her charitable work at Mother’s Grace with a program called Give Back a Smile to provide dental care to victims of domestic abuse.

“It is heartbreaking to hear these mother’s stories,” Dr. Javia stated in the release. “Especially cases like the Newell family.”

Dr. Javia is referring to a deadly car accident that occurred in June of this year. Sugar Newell, her fiancé, and two young children were leaving Sunday mass at St. Francis when their car was hit by another car, fatally injuring Sugar, leaving her fiancé paralyzed and her children motherless.

Their strong and loving grandmother is now helping raise the children and care for her paralyzed son, the release stated.

Sugar’s story is just one example of the kinds of cases Mother’s Grace assist every year. After the charity’s inception almost a decade ago, in a six year period Mother’s Grace has assisted over 350 mothers and families, and the number keeps growing.
