Dozens of examples of artworks from American Indian students in grades 7-12 will be offered for sale at the Heard Museum Guild American Indian Student Art Show and Sale, April 1-4.

Talented American Indian student artists across North America will be displaying and selling their artwork in the Heard Museum Guild American Indian Student Art Show and Sale from April 1 to April 4.

This national event will showcase an exceptional selection of artwork by seventh through 12th grade students for viewing and purchase. Visitors have the opportunity to browse more than 400 works of art in the Monte Vista Room.

The art show will highlight various traditional and fine art, including katsina dolls, pottery, baskets, jewelry, beadwork, weavings, paintings, sculptures and unique contemporary pieces in creative media, according to a press release.

These young Native artists price their own artwork and receive a majority of the proceeds from each purchase. Since 1992, more than $300,000 has been returned to the students through the sale their artwork, and more than $100,000 in scholarships and grants have been raised for participating students’ art teachers. Additional funds are raised by the Heard Museum Shops selling student art notecards.

The art show also allows students to enter their artwork and compete for cash prizes and ribbons in 13 categories and two age divisions. A panel of esteemed judges will be on site to choose the outstanding pieces.
