Xavier’s badminton team wins fourth straight state championship

Xavier College Preparatory’s badminton team captured its fourth consecutive state championship title by defeating Gilbert Perry High School in the final round of the state tournament on Thursday, Oct. 27.

The match lasted more than two-and-a-half hours, with the Gator team ultimately emerging victorious by a 5-3 margin, according to a press release.

The Gator team is made up of seniors Tatum Clarke, Annie Kamps, Kiana Valentova Macdonald, and Emily Woodrow; juniors Maddie Reinhart and Alex Wolfson; and sophomores Misaal Irfan and Maeve Lee.

The win was Xavier’s seventh state championship title since 2004, the release stated.
