Dr. Keith Preston, director of Fine Arts for the Paradise Valley Unified School District, was selected to serve on theĀ  city of Phoenix Arts and Culture Commission and on the Arts Learning Sub-Committee.

Dr. Preston was sworn in at the City Council meeting on Oct. 22 and will serve for three years with the possibility of serving a second term, according to a press release.

The members of the Arts and Culture Commission provide guidance and advice to the office of the Mayor and to City Council on all topics related to arts and culture.

As a member of the Arts Learning sub-committee, Dr. Preston will work on initiatives that will connect various education efforts with non-profit cultural organizations such as the Phoenix Art Museum, Arizona Ballet, Arizona Puppet Theatre, and the Phoenix Symphony as there are more than 150 non-profit cultural entities that reside within city limits.

The members of the city of Phoenix Arts and Culture Committee will meet twice a month – once as a group and once as a sub-committee.

Dr. Preston has been the Director of Fine Arts in PVSchools since 2008, the release stated.
