Phoenix Country Day School has been recognized as the No. 1 private school in Arizona by Niche, the largest website for researching K-12 schools.

PCDS earned this ranking by scoring highly on a variety of factors including SAT/ACT scores, student-teacher ratio, the quality of colleges students consider, and reviews from students and parents. The statistical data used in this ranking was obtained from the U.S. Department of Education and then analyzed by Niche’s team of data scientists to create the 2016 rankings, according to a press release.

“While our students, parents, faculty, and staff are proud of our school, it’s still nice to see the word spread more universally.  I’m certainly glad that we’re seen by such a reliable authority as being the best in Arizona,” stated Headmaster Andrew Rodin in the release. “However, my contention is that we’re one of the top K-12 schools in the entire country.  Our students, faculty, alumni, and academic program are on par or greater than those at top, nationally-recognized schools, and we consistently have our sights set high.  I’m proud to be a part of such an accomplished and aspirational community.”

Brent Stein, a freshman at PCDS who began at the school in Pre-Kindergarten, was among the many students especially proud of their role in the recognition.

“It’s impressive,” he stated in the release.  “It really means something to have the level of academics that we do, while still having an array of options beyond classes.  Kids here play sports, act in the theatre, do speech and debate, robotics, and so much more—all at an extremely high level.  You sometimes hear about other schools that are academic, but nobody does it all so well like PCDS.”

Since 1961, Phoenix Country Day School has been the Valley’s only nonprofit, private, independent day school for students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade 12, all on a single campus in Paradise Valley. It emphasizes high academics and both extra and co-curricular activities, including academics, arts, and athletics.

Graduates routinely attend the nation’s top colleges and universities, and credit their experiences at PCDS for shaping them as thinkers, doers and leaders, the release stated.
