Paradise Valley student wins state swim championship, swim coaches receive honor

A Paradise Valley student has won the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division I Girls Swim State Championship.

Alyson Yancy, a student at Pinnacle High School, has won the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division I Girls Swim State Championship in the 100 yard breaststroke competition.

Her final time was 01:02.62. Ms. Yancy, along with other swim and dive athletes, competed in the Division I Girls Swim/Dive State meet on Nov. 6 and 7 at Skyline Aquatic Center in Mesa.

PVSchools also had two teams receive 3rd Place in the 2015 AIA Division I State Swimming & Diving Championships:

At the championship, each participating school’s head coach receives a ballot to vote for Coach of the Year awards. PVSchools had two coaches receive honors:

  • Andrew Caraway, the dive coach for PVSchools, was named Dive Coach of the Year – Male and Female.
  • Samantha Kramer, Horizon High School’s Boys Swim Coach, was named Co-Coach of the Year for Men’s Swimming.
