Daniel Bridge-Gadd, senior quarterback at Paradise Valley High School, has been named Arizona Football Gatorade Player of the Year.

The stats for Bridge-Gadd’s season include: 251 of 374 passes completed, 64 touchdowns (47 passing, 17 rushing) and 4,268 passing yards, according to a press release.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 205-pound senior lead his team on an unprecedented run that saw their only loss of the season coming in a tough-fought Division III State Championship game. Additionally, he has maintained a 3.13 grade point average.

Gatorade Player of the Year is an athletic awards program that annually recognizes one winner in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 12 different sports, the release stated. A national winner is also chosen in each of the 12 sports, which will be announced in July prior to the ESPY Awards.

Winners are selected on athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character. For 29 years, the Gatorade Player of the Year program has become one of the most prestigious high school athletic awards in the nation, the release stated.

Both Bridge-Gadd and Paradise Valley Unified School District will receive a trophy, and Paradise Valley High School will receive a banner to display. Bridge-Gadd will graduate in May 2016 and has committed to play college football at the University of Washington.
