Paradise Valley Unified School District has two teachers who will be honored at the Arizona Educational Foundation Arizona Teacher of the Year Awards luncheon on Nov. 19 at the Arizona Biltmore.

Michael Vargas, a physics teacher at Pinnacle High School, was selected as 2016 Teacher of the Year Ambassador for Excellence. In all, five teachers were selected for this honor, and one teacher will be named the 2016 AEF Teacher of the Year.

Janice Mak, a STEM Action Lab teacher and Gifted Cluster coach at Explorer Middle School, was named as one of the five Semi-Finalists and will also be honored on Nov. 19.

The AEF promotes and awards the exceptional achievements by Arizona’s public school teachers.
