James Ashley appointed Executive Director of the Industrial Commission

The Industrial Commission of Arizona is announces that the ICA commissioners have appointed James Ashley as executive director.

Mr. Ashley will be responsible for the overall administration of the Industrial Commission of Arizona programs, including the Department of Labor and the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health with oversight of laws relating to workers’ compensation, payment of wages, and child labor.

Mr. Ashley has worked as a political and public affairs consultant and most recently as deputy chief of staff and director of constituent operations for U.S. Congressman Ben Quayle and district director for U.S. Congressman John Shadegg, according to a press release. He has an extensive background working in the public sector and as a federal executive.

He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing from New Mexico State University.

“James brings a unique and impressive background in government relations and the public sector to the Industrial Commission of Arizona,” stated Dale Schultz, chairman of the Industrial Commission of Arizona, in the release. “As we move forward with the Commission’s vital core mission, he will play an integral role in implementing streamlined improvements, along with increased efficiency and accountability.”
