For Diana Krall fans, Friday Aug. 21, is an eventful night.
The Multiple GRAMMY Award-winning jazz pianist and world renowned singer brings her Wallflower world tour to the Symphony Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 21, and those ticket holders that donate five canned goods and non-perishable items or $5 to St. Mary’s Food Bank are registered to win an upgrade to the front row.
St. Mary’s Food Bank will be on hand to accept donations and make sure those patrons are in the running to upgrade their seats to the front row.
St. Mary’s distributes more food during the summer months than any time during the year, but donations always fall off with so many Arizonans heading to cooler climates, according to a press release. This event will help stock the Food Bank shelves for those in need. St Mary’s is the world’s first food bank and has been serving the hungry of Arizona for 48 years — providing more than 200,000 meals a day around Arizona, stated the release.
The most needed items include canned fruits and vegetables, canned proteins like tuna, peanut butter and beans, pasta, cereal and rice, according to the press release.
Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. To date, her albums have garnered 5 Grammy Awards, eight Juno Awards and have also earned nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums. Her unique artistry transcends any single musical style and has made her one of the most recognizable artists of our time, the release stated.
Produced by 16-time GRAMMY Award-winning producer David Foster, “Wallflower” finds Ms. Krall breaking new ground with her interpretations of some of the greatest pop songs of all time. The album features popular classics from the late 60’s to present day that have inspired Ms. Krall since her early years, as well as an unreleased composition from Paul McCartney, “If I Take You Home Tonight.”
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased either online at phoenix.ticketforce.com, by phone at 877-840-0457, or at the Phoenix Convention Center Box Office.
