Dr. John Dougherty of Artistic Dental was recently selected as a finalist among 165 nominees for the Phoenix Business Journal’s 2015 Health Care Heroes Awards.
Dr. Dougherty is one of three finalists in the dental category. The Phoenix Business Journal along with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Abrazo Health Care and Delta Dental will present awards and recognize finalists at a breakfast held on Aug. 20 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. The event open to the public, will recognize the outstanding contributions that healthcare professionals make to the community.
“I am honored and overwhelmed to be selected as a finalist among my peers,” Dr. Dougherty stated in a press release.
Dr. Dougherty has been committed to the advancement of Arizona dental healthcare since moving to the Valley in 1991, according to the release. Early on he worked with Onsite Dental, traveling throughout Arizona to provide dental care to underprivileged children and families living on Indian reservations.
In addition, Dr. Dougherty donates his time and services to Arizonans in need through organizations like St. Vincent de Paul and directly to Veterans and others in need, stated the release.
Dr. Dougherty goes the extra step researching and investing in the newest technologies and equipment to improve his ability to treat patients with the best and least painful solutions. Most recently, he became the first dentist in Phoenix to adopt the latest high-tech tool, the Solea laser. This technology allows Dr. Dougherty to fill cavities and shave teeth to be fitted for crowns without the use of needles or drills, according to the press release.
“My goal as a dentist is to focus on educating patients and providing treatments that will help them achieve optimal overall health by integrating oral care with systemic health,” stated Dr. Dougherty in the release.
